Founding Gift
Above: Howard and Linda Stern
Through the generosity of Linda and the late Howard Stern, the Center opened its doors to clients in 2001.
Linda and Howard’s financial gift and inspired vision have continued to support the Center as it has grown from one to nine staff and volunteers, serving just a handful of clients to now assisting hundreds every year. The Sterns’ vision to support the Center’s educational mission has fostered education and professional development among more than 500 students from a wide range of disciplines.
Sustaining Gift
Bonnie Berman’s extraordinary estate gift to the Center was, in a real sense, only her latest one. Both feisty and a
relentless truth-teller, Bonnie was also radically generous in many ways. Bonnie helped us to see things through a different lens, and that is a true gift. We plan to use a portion of her estate gift to fund a recurring symposium, bearing her name, focused on the patient experience in health care and novel and effective collaborations between patients and their care teams. It seems perfect to honor Bonnie with great, new ideas – and we have no doubt that even more new lenses are in our future – courtesy of Bonnie’s generosity!
